When a devastating accident struck the mining metropolis of Tunnel in the year 1300, very few people survived. In several cities that depended on mined Oxide Crystals as their primary energy source, the catastrophe caused severe shortages and sparked widespread civil unrest.
The Karani, who had previously supported the cities by transporting resources aboard their airships, refused to continue carrying the highly explosive crystals due to the immense danger.
Growing fear surrounding the transport and handling of the crystals eventually led to political and economic conflict. The Karani no longer received resources in return for their services, permanently straining relations between the two peoples.
As the value of Oxide Crystals skyrocketed, a new mine with significantly higher safety standards was constructed approximately two kilometers from Tunnel by order of the city councils. Crystal transportation became a highly respected profession, supported by generous rewards to attract volunteers. Hyperloop transport routes were expanded as a safer alternative to airship travel, and new workers' villages were established around the mines.
Since the Mining Disaster, a deep conflict has existed between the Arith and the Lazulith, whose technological civilization depends heavily on Oxide Crystals.
The Arith regard Lazulith technology as a threat to their traditional way of life and to the natural world, believing that the use of Oxide Crystals carries unacceptable risks.
The Lazulith, on the other hand, see their technological achievements as essential to their prosperity and future development. They believe these innovations are necessary to accelerate the restoration and reforestation of Aritudo.
Caught between these opposing perspectives, the peoples strive to find a way to coexist despite their differences. The history of this conflict is shaped by attempts at dialogue, mutual understanding, and perhaps the search for a compromise that preserves the diversity and uniqueness of Aritudo's cultures.
